MotherBoard is an advisory collaborative of Black mothers working at the intersection of healing, advocacy, and sustainable systems change to create a more just and equitable world for Black mothers and babies. We use our lived experiences to shape better policy, improve systems, and build spaces rooted in safety, dignity, and trust.
MotherBoard currently is collaboratively led by 20+ members, that hold leadership roles on three committees: Outreach, Abundant Birth Project/Health Start, and Policy.

Our Guiding Principles
Lived Experience Is Expertise Black moms know what works because we've lived it. This experience shapes smarter policies, strategies and programs.
We Bridge Communities and Systems MotherBoard connects public agencies to the people they serve to open communication and build trust.
Representation Builds Power Building space for Black moms’ voices leads to better decision-making and effective change.
Accountable Systems Actively engage with policymakers, agencies and institutions to co-design public programs that serve Black families with safety, dignity and trust.
Healing Generations We create space for past, current and future generations to be seen, heard, and believed.
Joy is central to our work MotherBoard celebrates joy as a radical act of resistance and renewal. Centering joy affirms that Black mothers inherently deserve rest, laughter, and thriving as the foundation for justice and healing.
